Middle Earth Info on Company of the Ring:
Company of the Ring
The Company of the Ring was the company of Free Peoples which accompanied Frodo Baggins on the first stage of the Quest of Mount Doom. The Company was composed of Frodo, Sam Gamgee, Peregrin Took, and Merry Brandybuck, representing Hobbits, Aragorn II and Boromir, representing Men, Legolas, representing Elves, Gimli, representing Dwarves, and Gandalf. The Company did not plan to accompany Frodo all the way to Mordor; Boromir was going to Minas Tirith and the plans of some of the other Companions were uncertain. As the Company was deliberating its course of action on Amon Hen, it was broken by Boromir's attempt to seize the Ring and an attack of Orcs. Boromir was slain and Merry and Pippin captured by the Orcs. Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli followed the Orcs, while Frodo and Sam continued the Quest. Gandalf, the leader of the Company, had earlier been lost in Khazad-dûm. |
