Elves: Elves and Men were on good terms until the Fourth Age, when Men ceased to understand them. There was some intermarriage between Eldar and the Edain and Dúnedain, and perhaps between Silven Elves and Men as well. Because of great strife of some kind in the First Age, Elves and Dwarves were not very friendly. Elves hated all things evil and ugly, and so were usually at enmity with Sauron, but at various times Elves were seduced by people evil but fair.
The Elves had the Three Rings of Power, which were given to the three greatest of the Eldar. The Elves called themselves Quendi, which in Quenya meant "the Speakers." They were also called the Eldar Kindred, the Eldar Race, the Elder People, the Fair Folk, and the Firstborn. |
