We woke up today at 5:30 to take a shuttle to the airport, everything
was going smooth until we got hassled by customs in Sydney. They told
us to go over to these tables were they started unpacking our backpacks.
The lady going through mine just did a quick check and didn't pull out
everything. I was done and went to watch Sid, his backpack was getting
a complete check over. Sid asked me to take a picture of the lady tearing
apart his bag and the lady just glared at me saying it wasn't allowed.
So I backed off around the corner where I pulled out my camera, turned
off the flash and proceeded to take pictures! Of course I couldn't hold
the camera up to my face, so I held it low and under my bag. This
was the best I could do. Anyway, we made it out alive and looked for a
place to stay. We
ended up at a hostel in Kings Cross, an interesting place to say the least.
I felt like I was living back in Washington DC - bums, drunks, hookers,
nudie bars, it was crazy. But I soon noticed that the place was full of
tourists, old people, young people - there wasn't any violence or people
harassing you. We got settled in and headed directly to the beach!
